Public Comment Time Can Be Cut to 60 Seconds
📅 November 2, 2026
Red Oak ISD’s public participation policy, BED(LOCAL), allows the board president to reduce a citizen’s speaking time from two minutes down to just one. At ‘special meetings’ like this one, residents are also barred from speaking on any topic not on the limited agenda, silencing taxpayer concerns.
Response

DEMAND A CHANGE: Contact the Red Oak ISD Board of Trustees. ‘Policy BED(LOCAL) allows public comment time to be cut to just one minute per person. We request the board amend this policy to guarantee a minimum of three minutes for every speaker at every meeting to ensure public access is protected.’
