Board to Discuss School ‘Restructuring’ in Secret Session
The board is moving into a closed-door ‘Executive Session’ under Item V.ii to discuss ‘organizational restructuring’ due to financial problems, particularly at the NOVA school. Parents have a right to know what potential changes are being considered for their children’s schools before decisions are made in secret.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Before the board votes on Item V.ii to go into closed session, demand they publicly state what specific ‘restructuring’ options are on the table for the NOVA school and others. Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link): ‘Parents deserve to know the fate of their schools. Do not make these decisions in secret.’

Nearly $300k in Tech Spending With No Academic Proof
The proposed 2026-27 budget includes $298,915 for instructional software and new computer hardware across its schools. The board has not provided any independent evidence that this technology improves academic outcomes or justified the resulting increase in student screen time.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND PROOF OF EFFICACY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link) and ask: ‘Before approving the budget, please provide the independent, non-vendor-supplied studies showing these software products produce academic gains. How many additional minutes of daily screen time will this spending add for our children?’
π° Impact: $298,915

WIN: New Federal Program Could Expand School Choice Funding
The board is reviewing a new federal program, the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), that gives individuals a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for donating to scholarship organizations. This could create a powerful new funding stream for students to attend private and choice schools, expanding options for parents outside the public system.
How to Lock It In
SUPPORT & AMPLIFY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link) to express strong support for pursuing EFTC opportunities. Share this information with your state legislators and demand they reverse the Governor’s veto and opt Wisconsin into this powerful school choice program.
