The board is considering a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) to conduct a ‘Business Case Analysis’ for a potential ‘Sustainability & Efficiency infrastructure project’. The scope explicitly includes evaluating ‘sustainability and decarbonization initiatives’ and seeking federal grants, which is an entry point for ESG-aligned capital projects.
Policy Use

TRACK AND DOCUMENT: Item 3.C initiates a study with Johnson Controls to evaluate ‘sustainability and decarbonization initiatives’. Request the resulting ‘Business Case Analysis’ when complete and monitor for any subsequent Project Development Agreement or contract that commits district funds or accepts federal grants for these initiatives.
