Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Lemon Grove. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 10) |
|
District Using Panorama Surveys to Target Student Emotions
The district’s school improvement plans, presented under Item 2.A, rely on data from Panorama Education surveys to measure students’ feelings of ‘safety,’ ‘belonging,’ and ’emotion regulation.’ This is a massive data-mining operation that treats children’s private emotions and beliefs as data points for the district to ‘target’ and manage, bypassing parental consent.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: This is a workshop where these plans are being presented. We must challenge the use of Panorama Education’s emotional surveillance tools on our children. Sign up for public comment on Item 2.A and ask the board: ‘Who owns the data collected by Panorama? What is the full cost of this contract? And where is the parental consent form to have our children’s emotions and beliefs surveyed and ‘targeted’?’
π° Impact: Your Child’s Privacy

Social Engineering Programs Replacing Academics
The presentations for Item 2.A reveal a district-wide focus on non-academic, ideological programs like ‘Conscious Discipline,’ ‘restorative practices,’ and ‘Culturally and Historically Responsive Teaching (CHRT).’ These programs shift classroom time from core subjects like math and reading to focus on managing student emotions, beliefs, and social interactions.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: During public comment for Item 2.A, demand the board explain the total cost, training hours, and academic impact of ‘Conscious Discipline,’ ‘restorative practices,’ and ‘CHRT.’ Ask: ‘How much instructional time is being diverted from academics to these social programs, and what evidence do you have that they improve test scores?’
π° Impact: Classroom Social Engineering

| NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7) |

Increased Student Screen Time via i-Ready Software
Multiple school plans presented under Item 2.A rely heavily on the i-Ready software for reading and math diagnostics, lessons, and progress monitoring. This significantly increases student screen time, replacing valuable direct instruction from a teacher with a computer program.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: During public comment for Item 2.A, ask the Board to publish the data proving i-Ready’s effectiveness and the total daily screen time it adds. Email the board: ‘Before we continue to fund i-Ready, please provide independent, non-vendor-funded evidence of its academic gains and a clear accounting of how many minutes per day our children spend on this program instead of with a teacher.’
π° Impact: More Screen Time
