Secret Three-Year Teacher Union Contract Vote

The Board is holding a special meeting to vote on a new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement with the teachers’ union (WEA). The actual text of this massive contract, which controls everything from pay to classroom policies and student discipline, has not been attached to the agenda for public review. Parents are being kept in the dark about what new requirements or ideological language could be locked into district policy for the next three years.

Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: This vote is on the ‘Personnel Consent Agenda,’ designed to pass without discussion. Email Superintendent Angela Hamberg at hamberga@westerville.k12.oh.us and call Board President Kristina Meyer at (614) 797-5700. Demand that Item 4.01 be pulled for a full public discussion and that the full text of the agreement be posted online immediately. A vote should not happen until parents can read the contract.
