Heads up, Texas taxpayers: we’ve reviewed the upcoming GRAND PRAIRIE ISD agenda and found 2 items that deserve your attention before the gavel falls.
WARNING (LEVEL 6)
Surprise Votes Planned After Closed Session
📅 October 21, 2026
The board will vote on undisclosed items immediately after meeting in a private ‘Closed Session.’ This practice allows major decisions to be made with zero advance notice to the public, preventing taxpayers from reviewing details or offering comment before a vote.
Response

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the Grand Prairie ISD board (see district website for contact info) and insist that any item to be voted on under ‘Action as a Result of Closed Session’ (Item 7) be posted on the public agenda with descriptive text at least 72 hours in advance. A vote on a secret topic is not accountable government.

💰 Impact: No Public Scrutiny
WATCH (LEVEL 3)
Board President Can Limit Public Speakers
📅 October 21, 2026
The board’s public comment rules allow the President to force a group of citizens concerned about the same issue to appoint a single spokesperson. This can be used to limit debate and prevent board members from hearing the full range of public concern on controversial topics.
Response

MONITOR FOR ABUSE: This is a standing rule. Watch to see if the Board President uses the ‘appoint one spokesperson’ rule (Item 3.A) to silence parents on a key issue. If this happens, document it and demand the full public be heard.

💰 Impact: Reduced Public Access
