District Deepens Ties with Austin Lobby Group

The board will vote on nominating one of its own members, Les Healton, to the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). TASB is a taxpayer-funded organization that lobbies the state legislature, often against the interests of parents and taxpayers on issues like property taxes and school choice. This action further entrenches the district with an Austin-based lobby group using local tax dollars.

Contact the Burkburnett ISD Board before the meeting. Ask them: ‘Why is the district deepening its involvement with TASB, a lobby group that works against taxpayer interests in Austin? Please vote NO on Item 3 and focus on serving our local students, not Austin lobbyists.’
