Board to Meet in Secret Over Lawsuit

The School Board is holding a private, closed-door ‘Shade Session’ to discuss legal strategy for a lawsuit filed against the district (Shellabarger, Debi v. School Board of Hernando County). While such meetings are legal for litigation, parents have a right to know what the district is being sued over, as it involves taxpayer money and could impact policies affecting our children.

INVESTIGATE & DEMAND ANSWERS: The case number is 272024CA001155CAAXMX. Use this to search the Hernando County Clerk of Court public records online. Email the School Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘Regarding the Debi Shellabarger lawsuit discussed in the Oct. 20 closed session, we request a public statement on the general nature of this litigation and its potential cost to taxpayers.’
