NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)
Using ‘Socioeconomic Diversity’ to Draw School Zones
πŸ“… October 22, 2026
The district’s official policy for redrawing school attendance boundaries (Policy 5.01) explicitly allows for using ‘socioeconomic status’ based on free/reduced lunch data as a factor. This means your child could be moved to a different school not because of proximity or capacity, but to engineer a specific social mix in the classroom. The rezoning studies being discussed at this meeting actively use this data to project school demographics.
Recommended Action Plan

This is a critical meeting where the district is applying its policy of using ‘socioeconomic diversity’ to rezone schools. Email your comments to public.comment@palmbeachschools.org and attend the Advisory Boundary Committee meeting on Oct 22. Tell the committee: ‘Our children are not pawns for social engineering. School boundaries should be based on geography and capacity, not socioeconomic mixing.’
