Heads up, Texas taxpayers: we’ve reviewed the upcoming UNITED ISD agenda and found 2 items that deserve your attention before the gavel falls.
ALERT (LEVEL 8)
Key Security Decisions Made in Secret Session
📅 October 21, 2026
The Safety and Security Committee will discuss the district’s final security audit report and then vote on it after deliberating entirely in a closed, executive session. While state law permits this for security matters, it means taxpayers and parents are completely shut out of the discussion and won’t know the audit’s findings or potential costs until after a decision is made.
Response

Sign up for Public Comment (Item V) before the closed session begins. Demand that any action with a financial impact resulting from the secret discussion on Item IV.A be tabled and brought back for a separate, fully transparent vote at a future public meeting. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and ask: ‘Why are the results of the security audit being decided entirely behind closed doors?’

💰 Impact: Undisclosed Policy & Financial Impact
WARNING (LEVEL 7)
‘Youth Crisis’ Program Presented Behind Closed Doors
📅 October 21, 2026
An outside group, Border Region Behavioral Health Center, will present a ‘Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT)’ program to the committee in a closed session. This prevents parents and the public from scrutinizing the program’s content, data collection practices, and potential for mission drift into therapeutic roles without full parental transparency and consent.
Response

During Public Comment (Item V), ask the committee to provide a full public briefing on the ‘Youth Crisis Outreach Team’ program discussed in Item III.A. Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link): ‘Parents have a right to know what outside behavioral health groups are presenting to the district. What is the YCOT program and how will it protect parental consent and student data privacy?’

💰 Impact: Parental Rights Bypassed
