Undisclosed Cost for School Guardian Program

📅 October 19, 2026

The board is voting to approve a ‘Defender Program,’ likely a program to arm school staff, for the 2026-2027 school year. The agenda provides no details on the program’s cost for training, equipment, and potential liability, preventing taxpayers from weighing the costs against the benefits.

Response

DEMAND THE DETAILS: Contact the Celeste ISD board before the meeting. Ask: ‘Regarding Item 9, what is the total estimated cost for the Defender Program, including training, equipment, and insurance? This information must be made public before the vote.’
