New Policy Mandates In-Person ‘Wellness Checks’ at Home

Under the guise of ‘attendance,’ proposed Policy 204.1 gives the district the power to conduct a mandatory in-person ‘wellness check’ at your home if your virtual-schooled child misses a check-in. This policy creates a pathway for school officials to show up at your door, even on a weekend, bypassing parental authority in their own home.
Recommended Action Plan

This is a First Reading; the vote is scheduled for Oct. 27. We must stop it now. Contact the Board of School Directors (see the Official Agenda link for contact details) and speak at the October 13 meeting against Item 6.A: ‘I strongly oppose proposed Policy 204.1. The district has no right to conduct non-emergency, in-person ‘wellness checks’ at a student’s private home. This is a gross overreach of authority and a violation of parental rights. Vote NO on this policy.’
