NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)

Board to Set ‘Values and Priorities’ for Future Budget

📅 October 13, 2026

The Board is holding a workshop to decide the ‘values and priorities’ that will shape the district’s budget. This is a critical early stage where ideological goals like DEI or SEL can be embedded into financial planning before any specific programs are even proposed.

Recommended Action Plan

SHOW UP & SPEAK: This is a critical opportunity to influence the budget before it’s written. Attend the workshop and use public comment on Item D to insist that the Board’s top ‘values and priorities’ be academic excellence, student safety, and fiscal transparency, not ideological agendas.

💰 Impact: Ideology Baked into Budget

ALERT (LEVEL 3)

Public Comment Restricted to Agenda Items

📅 October 13, 2026

The district is limiting public comments only to items on this meeting’s agenda, citing a government code for special meetings. This prevents parents from raising other urgent concerns they may have about their children’s education or school environment.

Recommended Action Plan

MONITOR: This is a common rule for ‘special meetings,’ but it’s crucial to ensure this restriction is not applied to regular board meetings. Parents must always have a forum to raise new concerns.

💰 Impact: Silencing Parent Concerns
