Major Win (LEVEL 8)

District Eliminates ‘No-Zero’ Grading and Restores Academic Accountability

📅 October 13, 2026

The Board is voting to eliminate ‘grading floors,’ which artificially inflate grades by preventing teachers from giving a score below a certain number (e.g., 50) even if a student earned a zero. The new policy, aligning with state law H. 5073, also requires students to complete all assignments to be eligible for credit recovery, closing a major loophole. This is a significant step toward restoring honest grading and academic accountability.

How to Lock It In

PACK THE ROOM TO SUPPORT THIS WIN: Show up to thank the Board for aligning with state law and restoring honest grading under Items VI.A and VI.B. Publicly praising this move makes it harder to reverse and provides a model for other districts still using grade inflation policies.
