ALERT (LEVEL 4)
Vague ‘Program Expansions’ in Special Education
📅 October 8, 2026
The board is holding a study session to discuss ‘program expansions’ and the ‘changing landscape’ of Special Education. This vague language could be used to introduce non-academic or ideological programs, like Social Emotional Learning (SEL) or behavioral interventions, without clear parental oversight.
Recommended Action Plan

ATTEND & ASK QUESTIONS: This is a study session, not a vote, making it a key time to get answers. Email the Governing Board (contact info on the district website): ‘Regarding Item 2.1, please provide a detailed summary of the proposed ‘program expansions’ for Special Education before the October 8th meeting. Parents deserve to know exactly what is being discussed.’
