ALERT (LEVEL 4)
Academic Plan Built on SEL/Behavioral Framework
📅 October 13, 2026
The district is presenting its Middle School Improvement Plan, which appears to focus on core academics in math and literacy. However, the plan is built on a ‘Multi-Tiered System of Supports’ (MTSS) framework and cites ‘SEL’ skills as a root cause for math struggles. This MTSS framework is often a trojan horse for introducing social-emotional programming and extensive student data tracking that goes far beyond academics.
Recommended Action Plan

Email the School Board (contact info on the district website) before the meeting: ‘Regarding the School Improvement Plan (Item 2.01), I am concerned by the use of the MTSS framework. Can the board please provide a public commitment that MTSS will be used strictly for academic support in core subjects, and not as a vehicle for SEL or behavioral data collection?’
