ALERT (LEVEL 4)

Ideological Jargon Used to Justify Sports Trip

📅 October 5, 2026

The district is justifying a standard cross-country team field trip using the ideological frameworks of ‘The Whole Child’ and ‘Access and Equity.’ This shows a commitment to viewing all student activities, including athletics, through a social-emotional and political lens rather than focusing on the direct purpose of the event.

Recommended Action Plan

MONITOR: This is an early warning sign. Email the Board at CUSD_Board@cusd.claremont.edu: ‘Regarding Item 3.01, why is a standard athletic competition being framed with ‘Whole Child’ and ‘Equity’ language? Please keep the focus on academics and athletics, not on applying ideological frameworks to every school activity.’
