Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Pennridge SD. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.

District Creates Policy to Hide Information From Parents
A proposed update to the bullying policy, Item 4.B, creates a loophole allowing the district to delay notifying parents about an incident involving their child. The policy gives school officials the power to decide if telling a parent would put a child ‘at risk,’ a vague standard that could be used to hide critical information from parents, including about gender identity issues.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM & MELT THE PHONES: This is a first reading of Policy 249 and it must be stopped. Contact the School Board immediately (see the Official Agenda link for contact info): ‘I am the primary caregiver for my child. The district has no right to create a policy that allows it to hide information from me. Strike the parental notification delay clause from Policy 249.’

‘Restorative Practices’ Replacing Real Discipline
The board is set for a final vote on Policy 218, which inserts ‘restorative practices’ into the student discipline code. This approach often replaces consequences with talk circles, which can fail to deter bad behavior and compromise classroom safety. The policy also expands the school’s authority to police student speech and behavior that occurs off-campus.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: This is the final reading for Policy 218. Email the School Board (contact info on district website): ‘Vote NO on Item 3.A, Policy 218. Restorative practices undermine real consequences for misbehavior, and the district has no business policing students’ off-campus lives.’

‘Wellness’ Policy Opens Door to New Social Curriculum
Under the guise of ‘School Wellness,’ Policy 246 introduces a new, undefined ‘social media literacy program.’ While sounding helpful, these programs can be a trojan horse for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and other ideological content about online behavior and ‘digital citizenship,’ created by outside vendors without parental review.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND DETAILS: This is a first reading. Email the School Board (contact info on district website): ‘Before voting on Item 4.A, Policy 246, please provide the full proposed curriculum for the new ‘social media literacy program’ for public review. Parents must see the materials before you approve the framework.’
π° Impact: Undefined Social Curriculum
