District Considers Eminent Domain to Seize Private Land

The Lindsay ISD board is scheduled to deliberate and possibly take action on using eminent domain to acquire private property for a new road. This is an extreme government power that uses taxpayer funds to forcibly purchase a citizen’s land, and the full cost of the acquisition and potential legal battles is not disclosed on the agenda.
Response

This is a direct threat to property rights. Contact the Lindsay ISD Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact info) and attend the meeting. Demand they answer: ‘Before you vote on Item 4 to take private property, you must present the full cost to taxpayers and prove there are no other viable options. Eminent domain must be a last resort, not a first choice.’
