πŸ“ Drive to Los Angeles Unified Office   πŸ“… Tuesday, October 13, 2026 to Calendar
πŸ“„ View Official Agenda
Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Los Angeles Unified. We found 4 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 9)
District Hiding Racial Impact Analysis for 43 Charter Schools
πŸ“… October 13, 2026
For every one of the 43 charter school renewals (Items 1-43), the agenda references a ‘Desegregation Impact Statement.’ The district has failed to make a single one of these critical documents public, preventing parents from seeing the district’s own analysis of how these charter schools affect racial balance in our schools.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Email the Board of Education: ‘Before voting on Items 1-43, you must immediately release to the public all 43 ‘Desegregation Impact Statement’ documents referenced in the agenda. We have a right to see your analysis of the racial impact of these charter renewals.’

πŸ’° Impact: Withheld Public Information
HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
Board to Rubber-Stamp 43 Charter Schools in Single Meeting
πŸ“… October 13, 2026
The board has bundled the renewal of 43 separate charter schools, representing tens of thousands of students and hundreds of millions in public funds, into a single agenda. This ‘batch approval’ makes it impossible for parents to perform due diligence or provide meaningful public comment on any individual school’s performance, finances, or policies.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND PROPER REVIEW: Email the Board of Education (see official agenda for contact info): ‘I demand the charter renewals in Items 1-43 be split across multiple meetings. Rushing 43 renewals in one vote is a failure of oversight and an insult to parents who deserve to be heard.’

πŸ’° Impact: Reduced Public Oversight
HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
District to Renew Charter Where 2 in 5 Black Students are Chronically Absent
πŸ“… October 13, 2026
The district’s own data (Attachment B for Item 1) shows that at Alliance Ouchi-O’Donovan, the chronic absenteeism rate for Black students is a shocking 42.1%. The board is preparing to renew this school’s charter despite its failure to get these children to school.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM & DEMAND ANSWERS: Sign up for public comment. Email the Board of Education: ‘Vote NO on Item 1, the renewal for Alliance Ouchi-O’Donovan. How can you renew a school where the chronic absenteeism rate for Black students is 42.1%? This is a failure of your oversight duty.’

πŸ’° Impact: Failing At-Risk Students
NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 6)
Charter Chains Seeking Renewals Post Multi-Million Dollar Losses
πŸ“… October 13, 2026
Staff reports show the large charter organizations behind many of these renewals are not financially stable. Alliance College-Ready Public Schools (operator for Item 1 and others) reported a $14.1 million net loss. Green Dot Public Schools (operator for Item 2 and others) reported a $7.9 million net loss. The board is renewing their access to public funds despite these massive operating deficits.
Recommended Action Plan

QUESTION THE MONEY TRAIL: Email the Board of Education: ‘Regarding Items 1, 2, and other charter renewals, I am concerned about the multi-million dollar operating losses of their parent corporations. What assurances do taxpayers have that these organizations are fiscally responsible stewards of public money?’

πŸ’° Impact: Taxpayer Funds at Risk
