WARNING (LEVEL 7)
Public Comment Time Slashed for Large Groups
📅 September 29, 2026
The district’s policy, BED (LOCAL), automatically reduces public comment time from 3 minutes down to just 1 minute per person if more than 10 citizens sign up to speak. This rule can be used to silence widespread community feedback on controversial issues by severely limiting the time each taxpayer has to make their case before the board.
Response

Email the Humble ISD Board of Trustees (contact info on the district website): ‘The sliding scale for public comment in policy BED (LOCAL) punishes public participation. Amend the policy to guarantee a minimum of 2-3 minutes per speaker, regardless of how many citizens sign up to hold you accountable.’
