NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7)

Policy Could Silence Watchdog Board Members

📅 September 28, 2026

The board is discussing Policy 0143.2, which would require a full board vote before an individual board member can access non-public information or request in-depth research from staff. This rule could be used by a board majority to block a dissenting member from investigating parent concerns about curriculum, spending, or other sensitive issues.

Recommended Action Plan

Contact the District Office (see the Official Agenda link) and email the Board of Education. Urge them to vote NO on Item 2, Policy 0143.2. ‘Board members are elected to represent us and provide oversight. Do not pass a policy that allows a board majority to silence a dissenting member and hide information from the public.’

💰 Impact: Reduced Board Oversight
