Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for WEST OSO ISD. We found 4 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
| HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8) |
|
Appointments to be Made to Powerful Health Council
The board is appointing members to the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). This council provides direct recommendations on sensitive health curriculum, including sex education. The ideological makeup of this committee will determine what your children are taught about these critical topics.
Recommended Action Plan
PACK THE ROOM: Attend the meeting to scrutinize the proposed SHAC members in Item 6.B. Contact the Board (see Official Agenda link for details) and demand: ‘We request that you release the names and qualifications of all proposed SHAC members prior to the vote. We must ensure parent values are represented on this influential council.’
π° Taxpayer Impact: Curriculum Control
|
| NEEDS REVIEW (LEVEL 7) |
|
Board to Cancel School Board Election
Under items 8.B and 8.C, the board plans to certify that candidates are running unopposed and then cancel the school board election. While legal in Texas, this action eliminates the opportunity for parents and taxpayers to hold trustees accountable at the ballot box this cycle.
Recommended Action Plan
STRATEGIC ALERT: This is a critical reminder that elections have consequences, even when they don’t happen. We must recruit and support strong, pro-parent candidates for the next election cycle to ensure our voices are heard and our right to vote is exercised.
π° Taxpayer Impact: No Voter Accountability

| MONITOR (LEVEL 5) |
|
Consultant Pushes “Student Well-Being” Initiative
The district is hosting a presentation from the vendor Engage2Learn on “Student Success and Well-Being.” Programs focused on “well-being” are often a Trojan horse for Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which can shift focus from core academics to subjective emotional instruction.
Recommended Action Plan
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY: Contact the West Oso ISD Board (see the Official Agenda link for contact details) and ask: ‘Please provide the public with the presentation materials from Engage2Learn for Item 4.E before the meeting. Parents have a right to know how this vendor defines ‘student well-being’ and what their programs entail.’
π° Taxpayer Impact: Undisclosed Vendor Cost
|
| ALERT (LEVEL 4) |
|
District Forming Campus Attendance Committees
The board is creating Campus Attendance Committees. These committees are often the first step toward implementing “Chronic Absenteeism” policies which can lead to intrusive data tracking and home visits, treating parents as problems to be managed rather than partners.
Recommended Action Plan
ASK QUESTIONS: Contact the Board (see Official Agenda link for details) regarding Item 6.C: ‘What specific powers will the Campus Attendance Committees have? We oppose any policy that authorizes home visits or intrusive surveillance of families without parental consent.’
π° Taxpayer Impact: Potential Family Surveillance
