πŸ“ Drive to Livonia Public Schools S Office   πŸ“… Monday, September 21, 2026 to Calendar
πŸ“„ View Official Agenda
Heads up! We have scanned the upcoming agenda for Livonia Public Schools School District. We found 3 items that need your immediate attention before the vote.
HIGH CONCERN (LEVEL 8)
New Policy Sidelines Parents on ‘Sensitive’ Classroom Materials
πŸ“… Scheduled Action
Proposed policy procedure IFAB-PRO creates a system for teachers to use ‘supplementary materials’ (anything not a formal textbook) with only an internal, staff-only review. For ‘potentially sensitive’ content, parents are only notified a few days beforehand and must formally object to get an alternative assignment for their child. This flips the model from parental consent to parental burden, making you prove you object rather than asking for your permission.
Recommended Action Plan

PACK THE ROOM: This is a major policy change. Attend the meeting on September 21st. Sign up for public comment and contact the Board: ‘Policy IFAB-PRO under Item VI.A must be amended to require affirmative parental consent (opt-in) for all sensitive materials, not an opt-out system that forces busy parents to object.’

πŸ’° Taxpayer Impact: Loss of Parental Consent
MONITOR (LEVEL 5)
Board to Appoint Delegates for State-Level Lobbying Group
πŸ“… Scheduled Action
The board will select delegates to represent the district at the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) assembly under item II.B. These delegates will vote on resolutions that become the official lobbying platform for MASB, using our district’s influence and dues to advocate for policies in Lansing that may not align with parental rights.
Recommended Action Plan

DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY: Contact the Board (see the Official Agenda link for details). Ask ‘Regarding Item II.B, who are the nominees for MASB delegate, and how will you ensure they vote to protect parental rights and local control, not to advance a statewide political agenda?’

πŸ’° Taxpayer Impact: Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying
ALERT (LEVEL 4)
Policy Change Weakens Community Access to School Buildings
πŸ“… Scheduled Action
The board is revising Policy KG, changing the language from facilities ‘should be available’ to the community to they ‘may be available.’ This subtle shift gives the district more discretion to deny facility use to community groups, potentially including parent groups they disagree with.
Recommended Action Plan

ASK FOR CLARIFICATION: Contact the Board regarding Item VI.C. ‘Please explain the reason for changing the language in Policy KG. We are concerned this will be used to limit access for parent and community organizations.’

πŸ’° Taxpayer Impact: Restricted Community Access
