Summary — 5/26/2026: Our monitoring of Bethel Local, Local School District has identified 2 agenda items that warrant community action.

PRIORITY LEVEL 4
|
|
New Taxpayer-Funded District Spokesperson
The board is creating a permanent, 3-year contract for a "Communications Director" and hiding it in a bundled vote. This taxpayer-funded position will control all information released by the district, creating a single point for managing the public narrative and potentially sidelining parent concerns on future controversies.
Recommended Action
Email Board President Jacqueline Leskowich via the district office. Call (937) 845-9414 and ask for your message to be delivered: 'I demand Item 7.B, the approval of the Communications Director, be pulled from the Personnel Consent Agenda for a separate discussion and roll-call vote. The public deserves to know why we need a permanent, salaried spokesperson.'

💰 Cost: 3-Year Salaried Position (Details in attached files)

PRIORITY LEVEL 3

|
Hiding a 5-Year Contract in a Bundled Vote
The board is burying a 60-month (5-year) copier contract inside the "Superintendent's Consent Agenda." While copiers are necessary, approving a long-term financial commitment without a separate discussion and vote is a transparency problem. This sets a precedent for hiding other long-term deals from public scrutiny.
Recommended Action
Email Superintendent Michael Nutter at nutterm@blsk12.org: 'I request that Item 6.B, the 60-month Woodhull contract, be removed from the Consent Agenda for a separate discussion. The public deserves to understand the full cost and terms of this 5-year financial commitment before it is approved.'
|
💰 Cost: Undefined 5-Year Liability
