⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 8)
District Proposes Higher-Than-Needed Debt Tax
📅 Vote Scheduled August 26, 2026
The board is voting on the 2026-2027 property tax rate. Buried in the agenda language for Item 4.B is a proposal to approve a tax rate for debt payments that ‘Exceeds the Minimum Amount Required.’ This means the district is planning to collect more money from taxpayers than is necessary to cover this year’s debt obligations, potentially to build a slush fund for future spending without direct voter approval.
Response

Show up to the Public Hearing on August 26th and sign up to speak on Item 4.B. Contact the Webb CISD board members (verify contact info on the district website) and ask: ‘Why is the district proposing an Interest & Sinking tax rate that ‘Exceeds the Minimum Amount Required’? Taxpayers should only be billed for what is necessary to cover this year’s debt payments. Please adopt a rate that meets the minimum requirement and no more.’

💰 Impact: A debt service tax rate higher than required for current obligations.
