ALERT (LEVEL 3)
30-Minute Cap on Public Comment
📅 August 27, 2026
The agenda documents for the ‘Open Forum’ on non-agenda items state that ‘No one may begin addressing the Board thirty minutes from this time.’ This places a hard 30-minute total time limit on the entire public comment period. While individual time limits are standard, capping the entire session can prevent citizens from speaking if several people sign up, effectively silencing public input.
Response

Monitor: Taxpayers should watch if this 30-minute rule is used to cut off speakers at future, more controversial meetings. Contact the Dickinson ISD Board to ask for flexibility on this rule when public interest is high to ensure all voices can be heard.

💰 Impact: Limited public input
