Heads up, taxpayers and parents: We’ve audited the upcoming ANDERSON-SHIRO CISD agenda. There are 2 items targeting parental consent and taxpayer funds that need your immediate attention before the gavel falls.
⚠️ Warning (LEVEL 8)
Proposed Property Tax Rate 12% Above No-New-Revenue Level
πŸ“… August 27, 2026
The Anderson-Shiro CISD is holding a public meeting to adopt its 2026-2027 budget and tax rate. The proposed total tax rate of $1.047600 is 12.24% higher than the no-new-revenue rate, the rate that would bring in the same amount of money as last year. This increase is driven by a massive 38.6% jump in the district’s debt service budget. According to the district’s own notice, this will cost the owner of an average-priced home an additional $293 in property taxes next year.
Response

PACK THE ROOM: This is the public hearing on the proposed tax rate. Show up on August 27th and sign up to speak. Ask the board why they are proposing a tax rate 12% higher than the no-new-revenue rate. Demand they explain the 38% increase in debt spending and adopt the no-new-revenue rate of $0.933357 to protect homeowners.

πŸ’° Impact: $293 tax increase for the average homeowner.
🚩Watchlist (LEVEL 5)
Federal Grant ‘Fiscal Cliff’ Warning
πŸ“… August 27, 2026
The district is using over $200,000 in temporary federal grants (Title I, II, and IV) to pay for ongoing staff salaries, including a districtwide instructional coach. An administrator noted in a public report that the district had to get a special waiver to receive these funds and that it is ‘likely the last year the district receives the funds.’ This creates a fiscal cliff, where local taxpayers will likely be asked to fund these positions with higher property taxes once the federal money disappears.
Response

DEMAND THE DETAILS: Contact the Anderson-Shiro CISD board. ‘Regarding the federal grants, what is the plan to fund the instructional coach and other staff positions when this one-time grant money disappears next year? Will this result in another tax increase for local property owners?’

πŸ’° Impact: Future tax increases to cover over $200,000 in salaries currently paid by temporary federal grants.
