Summary — 3/6/2026:
Our monitoring of Maumee City, City School District has identified 3 agenda items that warrant community action.
PRIORITY LEVEL 8
Secret Three-Year Teacher Union Contract
📅  Vote on March 9, 2026
The Board is voting to approve a new three-year teacher union contract without publishing the document for public review. This contract could contain hidden pay raises, changes to discipline policies, or new ideological mandates for teachers. They want to lock it in for years before you see the details.
Recommended Action
Email Superintendent Steven Lee at slee@maumeek12.org and call Board President Stephanie Piechowiak at (419) 893-3200: 'I demand the full text of the Maumee Education Association agreement be released to the public immediately. Table the vote on Item 5.A until parents have at least 72 hours to review it.'
💰  Cost: Unknown - Blank Check
PRIORITY LEVEL 7
Board Planning a New Tax Levy
📅  Discussion on March 9, 2026
The Superintendent and Treasurer are officially starting the process to raise your property taxes. This 'discussion' is the first step to putting a new tax levy on the ballot. They are preparing to ask for more of your money while families are already struggling with inflation.
Recommended Action
Email Treasurer Paul Brotzki and Superintendent Steven Lee at slee@maumeek12.org: 'Before discussing a tax levy under Item 6.A, please provide a detailed report of all non-essential spending cuts made in the last 24 months. Taxpayers will not fund a levy without proof of fiscal discipline.'
💰  Cost: Future Tax Increase
PRIORITY LEVEL 4
Vague Mass Contract Non-Renewals
📅  Decision on March 9, 2026
The Board is non-renewing an undisclosed number of supplemental contracts for coaches and advisors under a vague agenda item. While this can be routine, it can also be used to quietly remove staff who don't align with the administration's agenda. The names are buried in attached files, not the main agenda.
Recommended Action
INVESTIGATE: Review the three PDF files attached to Item 10.A in the Official Agenda to see which coaches and advisors are being let go. Are they cutting successful programs or popular staff members without a public explanation?
💰  Cost: Loss of Valued Staff
