Summary — 2/18/2026:
Our monitoring of Lima City, City School District has identified 3 agenda items that warrant community action.
PRIORITY LEVEL 6
Secret Board 'Training' Session Scheduled
📅  February 18, 2026
The Board is holding a 'Training and Orientation' session without disclosing who is running it, what it costs, or what they'll be taught. This is how ideological consultants get their foot in the door, paid for by your tax dollars, without any public scrutiny.
Recommended Action
Call Board President Deanna Reynolds-Griffin at (419) 996-3448: 'Regarding the 'Board Training' on the Feb 18 agenda, who is the vendor, what is the cost, and will all training materials be made public *before* the session? We will not approve a blank check for secret training.'
💰  Cost: Blank Check
PRIORITY LEVEL 5
Board Adopts 'No Notes' Secrecy Policy
📅  Effective Feb 18, 2026
The agenda states board members are forbidden from taking notes during the closed-door Executive Session. This is a gag order that prevents our elected officials from keeping an accurate record of discussions about the Superintendent's performance. It shields the administration from accountability.
Recommended Action
Call Board President Deanna Reynolds-Griffin at (419) 996-3448: 'The 'no notes' rule for the Executive Session is unacceptable. Our elected representatives must be allowed to keep their own records to ensure accountability. Rescind this gag rule immediately.'
💰  Cost: Reduced Accountability
PRIORITY LEVEL 4
Why Is The School Board Meeting At A Hotel?
📅  February 18, 2026
The Board is holding its special meeting at the Wingate Inn, not a public school building. This raises costs for taxpayers and makes it harder for parents to attend. Public business should be conducted in public buildings, not behind hotel doors.
Recommended Action
Email Treasurer Heather Sharp at hsharp@spartan.limacityschools.org: 'Why is the Feb 18 meeting being held at a hotel? Please provide the cost of this venue rental and the justification for not using a free, publicly-owned district facility.'
💰  Cost: Unnecessary Venue Rental
